This is a high-intensity, low-impact, high-calorie burn class. We do many different toning and strengthening exercises. It is extremely helpful for anyone who is feeling "burned out" and needing a change of routine. Not only does exercising in water reduce injury by protecting and cushioning your joints, but also helps with blood circulation. Water keeps you cool, which for me is great because I feel like I can work harder and longer. Do not let the name, "Water Aerobics" fool you! This class is created for all different age groups, physical conditions, and abilities. We use many different exercise equipment specifically made for water.
You can decide whether to stay in the shallow end or move to the deep. There are benefits of both and many exercise options. Water provides twelve to fifteen times more resistance than air, so it is possible to burn three times the amount of calories land-based exercises. Unlike any other exercise, you are continually working all of your muscles and joints at the same time. Water reduces injuries, especially back pain. It also allows your joints more range of motion.
