Being active makes life so much better! When I eat healthy and exercise I feel better mentally and physically. In the spring of 2014 I started walking on my lunch break with a co-worker. Our goal was to run a 5k at the beginning of August. We started out by walking and gradually moved up to running 3 miles each day. My goal for the race was to keep running the entire time and finish in under 30 minutes. I finished the race in 29:20! Crossing the finish line after meeting both of my goals felt great!
I also participate in fitness classes at the University. The instructors are knowledgeable and motivate me to push myself past my limits. Even though everyone in the class is at different levels, the instructors are able to adapt the workouts to each of our needs. Wellness will always be an important part of my life!
